My firefighter partner’s demanding schedule sometimes requires him to work for 24 hours straight. In the event of a disaster or emergency, I may find myself alone. Even when I can’t be with him, I can always watch over “Orion”, the engagement ring that shines brightly in the night sky. My heart swelled with joy when he shared this is the reason for choosing the ring.

Throughout our relationship, I was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma and lost most of my hair due to medication. Through it all, he stood by my side, offering unwavering support and bolstering my confidence. When my illness went into remission, he proposed to me. I am grateful to him for being so positive and making me feel that way too. We welcomed a healthy baby boy this summer. Though we may no longer be newlyweds, my husband continues to watch over me like the “Orion” constellation that shines steadfastly in the night sky.

I never had an engagement ring due to our tight budget, and I wasn’t particularly concerned about it. Given my work in social work, I felt reserved about wearing sparkly rings, so I opted for a wedding ring with a modest design.

As I approached my 40s and was blessed with two children, I began to dream of treating myself to a sparkly ring. Surprisingly, my family all agreed, even though it was an expensive purchase. We visited I-PRIMO together, where we had purchased our wedding ring. Encouraged by my husband and children, I chose a beautiful eternity ring named “Vestalis”. We made it uniquely ours by engraving all our initials on it. Alongside my family, this ring has become my most treasured possession.

A ring like a bouquet

During the early days of our relationship, I received an unexpected call one night and was surprised with a bouquet of freshly picked sunflowers. I was truly taken aback because it wasn’t a special occasion, and I saw a side of him I hadn’t seen before. Since then, he’s been gathering extra flowers from his workplace, a gesture he never made when he was single. He takes care to rewrap them in nice paper and ribbon.

As our relationship blossomed, he proposed to me with a “Flannery” engagement ring. He chose it after consulting with the sales consultant about rings that represented the language of flowers. Despite his shyness, he always tries his best to express his love. The language of flowers in the ring is “I will always love you,” a sentiment that resonates deeply with me. Every time I glance at the ring, I’m reminded of that first bouquet and the enduring love it represents.
